Come celebrate 35 years of individuals and organizations collaborating to promote peace & justice locally, regionally, and globally! Long-time ACP&J volunteer Sally Alice Thompson will be honored for her lifetime of activism to achieve peace and justice. The night will also feature talks by Ret. Col. Ann Wright of Veterans for Peace and the founder/director of Alternative Radio, David Barsamian. Plus a shadow play called Reflections from Youth Migrant Detention will be performed by a collaboration between Three Sisters Collective, Wise Fool New Mexico, and Medicine Drum Circle. It will be an illustrated reading of direct quotes from migrant youth about their experiences with ICE and in US detention.

Our initial plans are for activities on April 3rd and 4th and also on the preceding weekend, March 30th and 31st, including events with speakers from NATO member nations and NATO- attacked nations, non-violence trainings, art-building activities, and public nonviolent demonstrations. We are planning a peace festival to advocate the abolition of NATO, the promotion of peace, the redirection of resources to human and environmental needs, the demilitarization of our cultures, and the commemoration of the speech of Martin Luther King Jr. against war on April 4, 1967, as well as his assassination on April 4, 1968.

The World Council for Peace, the Cuban Movement for Peace and the Sovereignty of Peoples (MOVPAZ) and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), with the co-sponsorship of the Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL), the Martin Luther King Jr. Center (CMLK) and the Oscar Arnulfo Romero Reflection Group, call for the VI International Seminar on Peace and the Abolition of the Foreign Military Bases to be held in Guantánamo, Cuba, from May 4 to 6, 2019.
